We explain how to get reimbursed on Steam easily in this short guide.
Some conditions to fulfill
If you want to get your money back on Steam, know that you won’t need to find a great excuse to justify your purchase error. The reason for returning your game really doesn’t matter to Valve’s platform, and they’ll be happy to give you your money back, as long as your request meets certain conditions.
- Your refund request must be made 14 days max after your purchase.
- You must not have exceeded 2 hours of cumulative use on the game concerned, although sometimes Steam accepts refund requests even after 2h30-3h of play.
- DLCs are technically refundable, provided you haven’t played the base game more than 2 hours after your purchase. However, some DLCs cannot be refunded at all, especially if they give you a lasting advantage in an online mode (a level up or items for example). Refundable DLCs are listed before your purchase.
- In-game purchases can be refunded for games only Valve, 48 hours max after purchase.
If you meet all of the above conditions, it’s time to request a refund from Steam. To do this, you simply need to follow these steps:
- Login to your steam account
- Click on the tab at the top left of the Steam window named “Support” Where “Assistance“
- Then click on the “Purchase” and select the relevant game
- Then click on the “I would like to request a refund“
- fill it in form displayedspecifying the method of payment on which you will be reimbursed and the reason for your request.
If you meet the conditions mentioned in the first part of this article, you should have no problem getting reimbursed. Steam will then contact you on your mailbox to notify you of the receipt of your request, then its acceptance, or not. Your money will then be credited to your payment method within seven working days. You will be able to sleep on both ears, without having to worry if you are not sure of one of your purchases, and possibly test the games before keeping them permanently.
