Around a thousand athletes are in Paris to represent 54 African countries at the Olympics. But the top performers are only ranked around 30th in the medal table at the halfway point, with South Africa and Kenya leading the way. In Rio in 2016, the continent won 45 medals: a record that could be hard to beat this year.
