“How are we going to deal with the F-16?”

Last night’s drone attacks in Russia were described as the largest ever since the invasion of Ukraine began. In Russian state television, the infamous presenter Vladimir Solovyov now questions how Russia should deal with future attacks.
– If we can’t handle the drones, how are we going to handle the F-16?, he says.

During the night of Wednesday, six regions of Russia were subjected to drone attacks, something described as the largest attack on Russian soil since the invasion of Ukraine began.

Several explosions are said to have been heard at the airport in Pskov in western Russia, about five miles from the Estonian border. Russian media reported that four military transport aircraft were damaged in the attack.

Several drone attacks in Russia

In recent weeks, many have pointed to Ukraine increasing its use of explosive drones to attack targets in Russia, the BBC writes.

The Russian presenter Vladimir Solovyov also seems to have noticed this when he appeared on Russian state television to question Russia’s ability to defend the country.

– What is going on? Are we not aware of where they (the drones) are manufactured, delivered or stored?, asks Vladimir Solovyov in the TV box, before continuing:

– If we can’t handle the drones, how are we going to handle the F-16?

“Can’t hold back his anger”

BBC journalist Francis Scarr, who covers Russian state television, shared the clip on X, formerly Twitter, with English subtitles.

“The Russian Defense Ministry ignored the Pskov attacks in its update this morning but Vladimir Solovyov cannot contain his anger,” writes Francis Scarr at X.

The statement from Vladimir Solovyov comes after the Netherlands and Denmark announced earlier this month that they are sending fighter jets of the F-16 model to Ukraine. A few days later, Norway also picked up in connection with the Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre visited Kyiv.

The presenter Vladimir Solovyov has been described as part of the Russian propaganda machine, and has previously, among other things, advocated the use of nuclear weapons against Ukraine.
