The transformation process, in which brands shape all their short-term planning and investments, also brings about developments in increasing model diversity. The vehicles in the electric car segment, which have been on the rise gradually over the last three years, continue to give the message of their arrival step by step in 2021. In light of the sales, which doubled its share compared to 2020, we see a share exceeding 5 percent for the first time globally. It is seen that Tesla made the biggest impact on the table, where the share of 3.1 percent climbed to 6.2.

Jato Dynamics The rise in the global sales table, in which 45 different markets are evaluated, reveals that although electric vehicles are seen as a big leap in themselves, they still have a very small share in the overall picture. In the total sales of 4.2 million units, in which Tesla did not leave the leadership to anyone with a significant rate of 21 percent, groups formed by well-established names now give the message “we are coming”. At this point, it is possible to prioritize the Volkswagen Group, especially with Stellantis, which was born from the merger of Fiat-Chrysler and Peugeot-Citroen groups. It is noteworthy that the European market, which includes Turkey, is gradually coming to the fore in terms of interest in electric models in 2021. Turkey’s 2021 figures also contain significant rise values. Electric models, which made up 0.1 percent of the market by catching 844 sales in 2020, increased their number to 2,846 in 2021. On the other hand, the sales share of electric cars is still below 1 percent in Turkey.
