In the early days of Destiny, there were few ways to get good loot. By coincidence, however, guardians discovered that a measly hell could drop legendary and exotic loot. Do you remember the Loot Cave?
What is the Loot Cave? In Destiny 1, there was a cave that Guardians dubbed the “Loot Cave”. At that time, players found out by chance that Hive opponents pour out of said cave again and again.
Basically it doesn’t sound like anything special, but at the time it was a blessing. No matter what activity you were in, the loot was underground. Try as you might, the chances of getting Legendary or Exotic gear were minimal back then.
That’s why players named this cave that way. She was the archetype of effective farming in Destiny.
Guardians stared into a measly hell for hundreds of hours
Why do players use this method? Many new players from Destiny 2 don’t know this at all if they are not overwhelmed with loot. Legendary engrams await after almost every round of Strike, Gambit, or Crucible, but in Destiny 1, they were considered a real rarity.
Even exotic engrams could sometimes take hundreds of hours to acquire. However, once you got your hands on one, the joy was indescribably huge. In order to speed up the process and finally get rare loot faster, the “Loot Cave” discovered by chance was super practical.
At times, an infinite number of swarm opponents poured out of the cave and the guardians just had to stand around farming for hours to get the coveted loot.
How did this method work? It was as simple as it was monotonous. You just positioned yourself directly across from the cave with a gun and shot down any enemies you could get in front of the lens. This was repeated until you had enough of it.
Wasn’t that boring in the long run? Surprisingly, quite the opposite. Players even had fun blasting the same enemies for hours and finally getting loot they worked worthy for.
But remember: Destiny 1 cannot be compared to Destiny 2 in this case. Nowadays nobody would sit in front of a cave and spend hours killing the same enemies, except for catalysts.
Unfortunately, the loot is thrown after you in Destiny 2 and Exos are not as rare as they used to be. Times have changed, but it’s always interesting to see how Guardians used to earn their cool loot.
Can I still visit the cave in Destiny 2? With the return of the Cosmodrome, so has the Loot Cave. You can find them in the same location on Skywatch. Even the talking remains of the dead flock have been implemented. These were added to Destiny 1 to commemorate the Loot Cave and the countless hours farmed.
A dungeon has also been dedicated to the famous cave. “Sog der Greed” is his name and takes you on a journey that is accompanied by greed and loot thirst. However, the dungeon is included in Bungie’s 30-year package and must first be purchased for a fee.
Do you still know the Loot Cave and if so, did you also spend hours to get hold of your first legendary or even exotic piece of gear? Let us know in the comments if you’ve experienced the cave cult in Destiny 1 yourself.
