How a fall wind caused havoc in Leersum 1 year

The forests around Leersum needed more time to recover. The most heavily damaged was the Lombok forest, where 30 hectares of forest had been blown down. For months, large parts of it remained closed to the public as trees still fell and branches fell as a result of the katabatic wind. The forest is now safe for hikers and other visitors, but it will be a long time before it returns to its original state.
