Housing one month after the explosion in Hässelby: "We feel abandoned"

Beef is the best Netflix series of the year so

More than a month after the explosion in the residential area Hässelby in Stockholm, many houses are still standing with extensive damage. Fifteen families are estimated to be able to return to their homes in a year at the earliest. TV4 Nyheterna has met one of the families affected. – We feel abandoned. Nobody, not even the municipality, has contacted us afterwards, says father Pär. It was on the night of the sixteenth of March this year that it exploded outside a block of terraced houses in Hässelby. The bomb is suspected of being aimed at relatives of a famous rapper who has shown his support for the criminal leader Rawa Majid, also known as the Kurdish Fox. The detonation was so powerful that nearly 60 houses were damaged. – It is a miracle that no one died or was injured, says mother Anette. “We feel abandoned” Daughter Natalie, 17, has difficulty concentrating at school after the incident. In her room, remains of broken glass remain in the bed and on the floor. – I woke up with glass all over my body, in my hair and on my face. I could have cut myself badly, but I was lucky to get through without injury, she says. The family is now living in an evacuation apartment, and it will be at least a year before the house can be moved into again. The house is insured but far from everything will be replaced. The worst part, according to the family, is that society showed so little support after the blast. – We feel abandoned. No one, not even the municipality, has contacted us afterwards. We have had to fight for everything. This is a trauma. We need help and support in this, says Pär, who was on sick leave after the incident and thus lost income. Victims: Create a coordination group Several families in Hässelby who were affected by the explosion want the government to start a coordination group that will take care of third parties affected by the escalating gang violence. The coordination group must ensure that authorities cooperate to a greater extent. – It can be a crisis group or crisis pot. It is important to know that there is somewhere you can turn. The explosion has left a mark on our lives. It has damaged our mental health for a long time to come, says Pär. The number of explosions in which third parties are affected has increased significantly. Last year, 90 explosions occurred in Sweden. Already in the first quarter of 2023, there have been 52 explosions, according to police statistics. Most of the blasts take place against private residences.
