A suspected live ammunition has been found outside an apartment building near the marina in Västerås. It was found just before 8 o’clock on Saturday morning.

– The object is judged to be sharp and therefore we have begun an evacuation of residents in the building, says Magnus Jansson Klarin, the police’s spokesperson in Region Mitt to TT.

A larger area around the house has been cordoned off.

– We have an ambulance on site as a precaution and the national bomb squad is on its way here to investigate the object, says Magnus Jansson Klarin.

The live ammunition was found a stone’s throw from the apartment in Västerås that was fired on Saturday night. The alarm about gunfire at the gate came just before four in the morning.

– It is too early to say whether there is a connection, but we are of course looking into it, says Magnus Jansson Klarin.

No suspect has been arrested at this time.
