House of the Dragon: when will season 3 be released on Max?

House of the Dragon when will season 3 be released

The last episode of season 2 aired this Monday, and fans are already wondering when the next episodes will be released on streaming.

House of the Dragonit’s already over for this year. The last episode of season 2, which exceptionally only had eight, has just been put online this Monday, August 5, 2024. After its broadcast in the United States, it is now available for French subscribers on the platform of streaming Max.

A new stage of the Dance of the Dragons was staged in this episode 8 of the prequel to Game Of Thrones. And fans are probably already looking forward to the sequel, two months after the return of season 2. Because a season 3 has indeed been confirmed by HBO, even before the broadcast of this last batch of episodes of House of the Dragon. “We are in awe of the tremendous effort put in by the entire team,” Francesca Orsi, HBO’s vice president of programming, said in a press release. “We couldn’t be more excited to continue the story of House Targaryen and see this team shine brightly once again for a third season.”

The war between the two branches of the Targaryens will therefore continue in future episodes, and if readers of George RR Martin’s work know what is going on in each clan, we will keep the mystery for those who exclusively watch the series. But for the moment, we still know very little about this sequel. Indeed, we do not yet know when this season 3 could be put online on Max: remember that we had to wait a little less than two years between season 1 and season 2, a delay partly attributed to the writers’ and actors’ strike in Hollywood, in 2023.

It is therefore not impossible that we will have to wait until the end of 2025 or even 2026 before seeing the new episodes of House of the Dragon. For the moment, neither Max nor HBO have communicated on a broadcast date. Furthermore, the casting of this next season has not yet been revealed in its entirety.
