House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock reveals what she

House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock plays the Targaryen princess Rhaenyra with such confidence that you’d think she’d never done anything else here in her life. Of the Shooting such a powerful fantasy series demands a lot and this isn’t about grueling hours on horseback or battle scenes. Alcock has described in interviews the challenges that scratch the glamor of a hugely successful series like House of the Dragon.

It’s getting really hot on the set of House of the Dragon

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter at launch, the Targaryen Princess cast member opened up about her experience on set. She’s never been on the set of a $100 million show, Alcock explained, before moving on to an unexpected challenge that doesn’t sound like a pleasant one.

In Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon there is a lot going on “natural” light sources worked, that is, sunlight, torches, and candles seen in the image, intended to illuminate the dim rooms at King’s Landing and elsewhere. In House of the Dragon, this is particularly noticeable with the gigantic chandeliers with candles. Such light sources make the rooms appear more realistic and atmospherically dense. But they have one major disadvantage. Milly Alcock on this:

Because there is no electricity in the world, everything is lit with fire. So with every light you see, someone goes around and lights everything and the set got incredibly hot. I was really sweating and had to stand there like that [streckt Arme aus] Between Two Girls With Hair Dryers. So it was all very glamorous. Milly Alcock had to learn a language that hardly anyone speaks

Of course, that wasn’t the only challenge facing the young actress from the House of the Dragon cast. she also had to learn to speak High Valyrian fluentlywhich she liked a lot more than standing around sweating in the area.

Rhaenyra and her uncle Daemon (Matt Smith) speak multiple times in this ancient tongue from the lost realm of Valyria, where the Targaryens originally came from. Alcock needed a dialect coach for the language invented by George RR Martin, E!Online reported. She worked for hours on this:

We repeated and repeated and repeateduntil I didn’t have to think about what I was saying anymore.

On the official House of the Dragon podcast, she explained that she actually enjoyed learning the fictional language. It’s like speaking a song in another language. At some point she was on autopilot.
