The Aronofsky thriller was celebrated by Stephen King and Harlan Coben

Caught Stealing is based on the novel of the same name, which was published in Germany in 2004 as The whipping boy It is the first in the Hank Thompson trilogy. Austin Butler will play the anti-hero, a burned-out baseball player who “unknowingly involved in a wild struggle for survival in the criminal underworld of New York in the 1990s” Original author Charlie Huston is also writing the screenplay.

The novel received some praise from colleagues, including Stephen King, who summarized in the New York Times:

Great excitement and New York atmospherefast pace, brilliant dialogues.

Colleague Harlan Coben is quoted in the blurb as saying: “Brutal, visceral, violent, edgy and brilliant.”

Caught Stealing does not have a release date yet. If filming does take place in September, the film could open next year.
