Game of Thrones fans will have to wait until next year for Season 2 of the prequel series House of the Dragon to arrive. Now there’s another piece of news that doesn’t exactly make you happy. The next season will be shorter and gets 8 instead of 10 episodes. There are various justifications for this.
Warner’s cost-cutting measures are said to also affect House of the Dragon
As Deadline reports, Warner Bros. Discovery’s general cost-cutting plan is said to be the reason that the sequel to the fantasy hit will be shorter. However, an insider at HBO told Deadline that the decision to reduce the number of episodes purely story-related should be.
Deadline suspects that HBO is preparing bigger plans for the further story of the next seasons of House of the Dragon. Hopefully there will soon be the green light for a third season, which should also be planned quite concretely in terms of content.
But before that, fans can look forward to the (slightly shorter) second season of House of the Dragon. It is not yet known when the new episodes will appear exactly. Most recently, summer 2024 was given as a potential start period for the fantasy series.
