House arrest extended for Andrew Tate

The controversial British-American influencer, who lives in Romania, was arrested along with his brother Tristan Tate on December 29, accused of rape and human trafficking. The authorities suspect that the brothers, together with two Romanian women, created an “organized criminal group with the aim of recruiting and exploiting women”.

At the end of March, a Romanian court ruled that the brothers should be released from custody and placed under house arrest instead. Friday’s decision on extended detention also applies to Tristian Tate.

Andrew Tate has made himself known through a career in kickboxing and reality television. In recent years, he has acquired millions of followers on social media where he has made a series of controversial and misogynistic statements.
