The recipe for the new bricks is made based on the color, texture and structure of the old bricks, explains André Bleumer. He is one of the people who helps make the bricks for Utrecht. “The clay determines the fired color of the stone,” he says. The right clay is also important to recreate the correct structure. Made new, the bricks should last for about fifty years.
