A new leak about the next expansion of World of Warcraft is causing a stir. The “Avaloren” theory seems to be confirmed – and shows where the journey will soon go.
This year there were comparatively few leaks about the next expansion of World of Warcraft – but that has now changed. A new leak looks promising. Not only does the material appear to be “legitimate,” but the features and locations mentioned correspond to what was suspected months ago.
Where does the leak come from? The leak is currently making the rounds in the World of Warcraft subreddit. The exact origin of the images cannot currently be determined. However, it can be assumed that the leak originated with a Blizzard employee – that would at least explain where the images come from.
What kind of leak is this? The first leak is a compilation of 4 images that apparently come from the typical “feature trailer” of an expansion. All highlights of the expansion are usually presented here.
The leak shows 4 individual images:
Two particularly important details here are the two columns in the last picture on the right and left edges. Because these pillars are almost identical to the ones that Blizzard has already posted itself. A few days ago, Blizzard showed off some props that they are currently making in preparation for BlizzCon.
These exact pillars can now be seen in one of the pictures – which gives the leak credibility.
What is Avaloren? Avaloren is a largely unknown continent on the other side of Azeroth. The Titans have kept the location secret from the mortal races. So far, hardly anyone has managed to explore the other side of Azeroth – anyone who went there never came back.
It can be assumed that a very unique civilization has developed on Avaloren that doesn’t think much of the Titans. At the same time, it is likely that the missing Old God is based in Avaloren.
Avaloren and Khaz Algar were already mentioned in Dragonflight. The night elf pirate “Nightsquall” is said to be the first and only one to have reached Avaloren so far.
How likely is that? As things stand, the leak looks pretty convincing – if it’s a fake, then someone put a lot of effort into it. Avaloren has long been speculated to be the target of the next expansion and the supposedly leaked images match what Blizzard has already revealed itself.
However, we won’t find out the final truth until next week, when BlizzCon 2023 takes place on November 3rd:
