Olivier Dubois was released on March 20, after two years of captivity at the hands of the Support Group for Islam and Muslims, linked to al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. He had been kidnapped in Gao, in northern Mali, where he was to interview a jihadist leader. Our investigation reveals that at the time of his abduction, the French army had been following his preparations step by step, without his knowledge, for several months.
