Hostage situation in a bar in Holland over man

According to the police, there are currently no indications of terrorism in the case.

Several people were taken hostage in the popular Petticoat bar in the village of Eden in eastern Holland in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Around noon, the three hostages were released. In the afternoon, the police said that the rest of the hostages were also released.

The police did not specify how many people were held hostage. According to local media, four or five people were involved.

After 1:30 p.m., Dutch media reported that the police arrested a man in a balaclava in the area.

According to the police, there are currently no indications of terrorism in the case. According to witnesses, a man went to a bar at closing time in the morning and took the people there hostage, threatening them with explosives or weapons, they say De Telegraaf and Eindhovens Dagblad.

Residents in the vicinity were evacuated from 150 homes, says the public broadcasting company Nos. On Saturday, a large number of heavily armed police and the fire department were present.

The police said in the afternoon that they will not release any more information about the case.
