A spokesman for Hamas’ armed wing says the fate of many of the Israelis taken hostage on October 7 has become “unknown in recent weeks”.
– Many of them have most likely been killed as a result of the Israeli bombardment, says the spokesperson Abu Obeida in a televised speech.
Furthermore, he says that they were most likely killed recently.
The fight for the hostages continues
– The rest are in great danger every hour and the enemy leadership and army bear full responsibility.
It is far from the first time that Hamas has blamed Israel for the fate of the hostages.
Meanwhile, Israeli civilians continue the campaign to get the hostages back.
“A hundred days and they’re still abandoned there, a hundred days and there’s no sign of them coming back,” said Amit Zach, who joined the protesting crowd in Tel Aviv on Sunday.
“About 9,000”
Israeli politicians have constantly repeated that one of the country’s main war goals is to bring home the hostages, alongside destroying Hamas. But many of those gathered in Tel Aviv are not impressed.
– I don’t think we imagined a situation where we would be here on the hundredth day, says Gili Dvash Yeshurun.
Israel’s military claims that “around 9,000” Hamas militiamen and other Palestinian fighters have been killed in the country’s military operation in the Gaza Strip, writes the Times of Israel, among others. The military has not released a figure for civilian casualties.
According to health authorities in Hamas-controlled Gaza, a total of 23,700 people – combatants and civilians – have been killed in the war, which has destroyed much of the Gaza Strip’s infrastructure.
About 1,100 Israelis were killed in the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7
