“Cornhole for Hospice brings a favorite summer pastime indoors for a day of fun and fundraising,” Ginny Hawken, chair of the special events committee, said in a release Wednesday.
“This event, as well as our signature events, all play an integral role in raising essential funds that ensure hospice continues to offer quality end-of-lifecare and support to families in our community.”
The CK Dirty Birds Cornhole League will operate the tournament.
Open to players of all abilities, teams will first compete in a round-robin with a guarantee of at least three games before being split into two brackets based on ability.

Following this, teams will play in a single-elimination tournament, with the winning team of each bracket receiving a cash prize.
In order to register, teams of two must collect a minimum of $300 in pledges or donations to the foundation. For every $100 in pledges, teams will receive a ballot for a draw to win customized cornhole boards.
Glenn Seed Ltd. of Blenheim is supporting the inaugural event as a title sponsor.
“The team at Glenn Seed is proud to support the critical service that the Chatham-Kent Hospice provides to our community,” Francis Glenn, company president, said in the release. “We are also excited to celebrate our local agriculture sector with this fun, corn-themed fundraising event.”
The event also includes a 50/50 raffle with a jackpot up to $12,500, thanks to the Lally Auto Group.
Tickets will be available from the hospice foundation and committee members leading up to the fundraiser and onsite during the tournament.
Registration is open at www.cornholeforhospiceck.com. Teams are encouraged to register and start collecting pledges quickly as space is limited.
