After a horse was killed on Alnön in Sundsvall, other horse owners are now expressing concern in the area. The police are investigating the incident as aggravated animal cruelty.

During Thursday evening, the police were called to Alnön in Sundsvall. A horse is said to have been stabbed with some kind of stabbing weapon in its paddock and the police are investigating the incident as serious animal cruelty.
At Västmarker’s pony playground in Indal, about half an hour outside Sundsvall, outrage and concern are expressed after what happened.
– I’m glad my horses weren’t there. I had them over a weekend on Alnön only a few weeks ago, so I’m glad that nothing happened then, says Sara Andersson, owner of Västmarkers ponylekis.
Västmarker’s ponnylekis is located a short distance from Alnön, where Sara Andersson runs a small riding school for children. Sara Andersson says that the farm is next to a major road – something that makes it more difficult for people to get there. But even so, it stirs up emotions and a strong concern because she doesn’t know which people exist and are capable of exposing more horses to similar things.
– You never know what can happen. It’s disgusting, she says.
Want cameras for increased security
Already a few weeks ago, Sara Andersson had her horses for a weekend at Alnön. On the other hand, she does not have many contacts with other horse owners, but believes that she has heard others express concern.
Sara Andersson says that it feels difficult with her own horses and her business. Now she is also thinking about setting up cameras on the farm for increased safety for her horses.
– I want to set up cameras, but you can’t do that anyway. So it is clear that you are worried, she says.
