Four-year probe results in fraud charges

A Pain Court man faces charges after a fraud probe that began more than four years ago, Chatham-Kent police say.

The investigation was launched after information was received in October 2019 about employment records being falsified, police said Thursday. The investigating officer identified a suspect, established grounds to lay charges and make an arrest, and obtained a warrant when the suspect could not be located, police said.

Ontario Provincial Police officers arrested a man in Leamington on Wednesday, police said.

A 27-year-old Pain Court man is charged with fraud under $5,000 and five counts of falsifying employee records, police said. He was released from custody with conditions and an April 5 court date.
