New to Netflix, adrenaline-pumping sci-fi action with Jung_E: Memory of War
Jung_E: Memory of the war takes you to the year 2194, where the consequences of climate change can be seen more than clearly. The sea level has risen and the Humanity escapes into space. Gigantic structures are built to ensure the survival of the people. But then a devastating civil war broke out.
In this civil war, the intrepid warrior Jung-yi Yu (Hyun-joo Kim) becomes a legend. But then everything goes wrong during an operation and she falls into a coma. Thirty-five years later, Seo-hyun Yu (Soo-yeon Kang), Jung-yi’s daughter, is trying to get her Mother as combat robot who is part clone and part artificial intelligence.

Aside from the premise and the sci-fi setting, Jung_E: Memory of War is mainly interesting because of its director. Sang-ho Yeon has had one of the most nerve wracking zombie movies filmed, namely Train to Busan. After expanding this with Peninsula and implementing the mystery series Hellbound on Netflix, he is now letting off steam in the future.
Yeon brought two key stars from Hellbound to Jung_E: Memory of War. Both Hyun-joo Kim and Kyung-Soo Ryu were cast in the Netflix series. In addition, the sci-fi film is waiting with the last movie appearance by Soo-yeon Kang on. The South Korean actress passed away in May 2022.
