Horror thriller with an idea that is as cruel as

At the latest with Old, Twist legend M. Night Shyamalan has almost completely returned to his old strength. With his adaptation of the graphic novel Sandcastle, the director has a oppressive concept filmed, which as usual takes a Shyamalan-typical direction in the finale. Old you can Stream now with Amazon Prime subscription * and we can only recommend the superbly staged horror thriller to you.

Old combines a cruel idea with a strong staging

The film’s story mostly takes place on a beach, where the holiday paradise becomes hell for various couples and families. As the characters have to discover, they age unnaturally quickly. In an hour they will be two years olderwhich suddenly turns young children into adults and leads to a quick death for older characters.

From this cruel idea, Shyamalan has created a gripping film that thrives on the director’s well thought-out shots. He creates again and again scary imagesthat slowly tease or shockingly unleash the horror of the rapid aging process.

In addition, Old is carried by the strong performances of the ensemble of stars such as Vicky Krieps, Gael García Bernal, Alex Wolff and Thomasin McKenzie. They convey the panic of their inexplicable situation with emotional performances.

For the finale, Shyamalan unsurprisingly deviated from the straight forward template to use Old one of his signature twists to miss. Of course, it won’t be revealed at this point, but it gives the film another captivating final act.
