The next chapter in the Alien saga announces itself with exciting news. With Ridley Scott’s plans for the conclusion of his Prometheus trilogy derailed, the franchise finds itself in the hands of Fede Alvarez. Now there is first information about Start of shooting of the new Alien film.
Based on a report by the Film & Television Industry Alliance, shooting will start on February 6, 2023 in Budapest, where big Hollywood blockbusters like Dune were recently shot. In addition, the working title of the new Alien film is known: get ready Alien: Romulus.
Alien: Romulus promises a sci-fi horror film inspired by Roman mythology
After Prometheus – Dark Signs already came up with a reference to Greek mythology, Alvarez’ Alien entry pulls the roman mythology advise. Romulus is – together with his brother Remus – the founder of the city of Rome (753 BC) and a son of the god of war Mars and the priestess Rhea Silvia.

It is unclear whether the working title already reveals something about the plot of the new Alien film. In any case, the story of Romulus is not lacking in interesting motifs. A she-wolf as a surrogate mothera conflict between two brothers and the fate of a city: Alien can certainly borrow an idea or two from here.
The Film & Television Industry Alliance report also confirms that most important personalities of the project. With Alvarez serving as director, Scott returns as producer. The screenplay is by Alvarez and Rodo Sayagues. And the main actress is Cailee Spaeny, known from Mare of Easttown.
