One of the most anticipated horror series of the year is starting in just a few weeks. The Fall of the House of Usher is not only the new Netflix project from The Haunting of Hill House creator Mike Flanagan, but also his last. After five series and two films, the horror specialist is turning his back on the streaming service in order to film a Stephen King fantasy epic on Amazon in the future.
The Netflix farewell becomes an absolute horror highlight. With numerous stars, The Fall of the House of Usher bows to a master of horror literature and his almost 200-year-old psychological nightmare. Now there is that first trailer for the brilliant Netflix shocker to marvel at.

The series title might sound familiar to you. Mike Flanagan uses Edgar Allan Poe’s horror short story of the same name from 1839 as a model. But you shouldn’t expect a classic adaptation. The modern interpretation tells one thing own story, which is made up of numerous motifs from Poe’s great literary work – a certain raven also plays a role.

The plot of The Fall of the House of Usher revolves around the family of the unscrupulous pharmaceutical tycoon Roderick Usher (Bruce Greenwood), whose One by one, descendants die under mysterious circumstances. As the mysterious shapeshifter named Verna (Carla Gugino) begins to wipe out the entire family dynasty, dark secrets from the Ushers’ past come to light.
Series creator Mike Flanagan is doing everything again at the end of his Netflix era and has brought together numerous stars for The Fall of the House of Usher who were previously seen in his series The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass and Goosebumps at Midnight. So a scary and brutal farewell party awaits us.
When does The Fall of the House of Usher start on Netflix?
The fall of the House of Usher begins on October 12, 2023 on Netflix. The miniseries consists of a total of eight episodes. Mike Flanagan directed four of them himself. The remaining episodes were staged by Flanagan’s regular cameraman Michael Fimognari.
