Seven people were killed in a helicopter crash this morning in the Puglia region of southeastern Italy.

According to the news in the Italian press, the radio connection with the A109 type helicopter, which made a flight between the city of Foggia and the Tremiti Islands, was lost this morning. After the search and rescue efforts started, the security forces reached the wreckage of the helicopter near the town of Apricena in the province of Foggia. There were no survivors of the 7 people in the helicopter in the accident.
It was stated that the helicopter belonging to the Alidaunia company, which makes regular flights between the Tremiti Islands and Foggia, makes round-trip flights on the said route several times a day.
The identities of those killed in the accident have also been revealed. A Slovenian family of 4, an Italian doctor and 2 crew members who came to spend their holidays in the Puglia region, lost their lives in the accident.
The Italian National Flight Safety Agency (ANSV) launched an investigation into the accident. (AA)
