It is claimed that Horizon Zero Dawn MMO, developed by Sony in partnership with NCsoft, may have been cancelled. New reports increased uncertainty over the project.
Developed in collaboration with Sony and NCsoft Horizon Zero Dawn MMO It was suggested that the project may have been cancelled. Reports from South Korea that NCsoft has decided to halt some of its projects indicate that this game may be among the affected projects. While it is known that Sony has recently canceled two different live service projects, this has increased speculation that a similar decision has been made for Horizon Zero Dawn MMO.
NCsoft and Horizon Zero Dawn MMO Project
It has long been thought that the game developed by NCsoft under the name “Project H” is Horizon Zero Dawn MMO. However, according to statements from NCsoft, some projects have been stopped as a result of feasibility evaluations. The report states that development of multiple games has been halted, including NCsoft’s projects such as “Pantera” and “H.”
This decision may be linked to NCsoft’s financial difficulties and Sony’s strategic changes towards live service games. In the statement made by NCsoft’s co-chairman Kim Taek-jin, it was emphasized that 2025 is a critical year for the company and if a successful transformation is not achieved, the future is uncertain.
Another live service project based on the Horizon universe is being developed by Guerilla Games. This project is designed as a cooperative game with more colorful graphics that appeals to a younger audience. However, this project has no connection with Horizon Zero Dawn MMO and there is no information that it has been cancelled.
It is thought that Sony may abandon the MMO project in collaboration with NCsoft and focus on the live service game developed by Guerilla Games. The cancellation of the Horizon Zero Dawn MMO project may indicate that Sony is taking a more selective approach towards live service games.
