Actor Lance Reddick, who played Commander Zavala in Destiny 2 and antagonist Slyens in Horizon Forbidden West, sadly passed away in March 2023. Now he gets the honor he deserves after his appearances in Horizon Zero Dawn and the sequel.
What did Guerrilla Games do? The development team has now built a memorial for Lance Reddick. However, the monument can only be found in the Burning Shores expansion and seems to have been implemented in the game with the current patch.
The memorial consists of a small light show projecting Reddick’s name into the air. If you are looking for the monument yourself, you have a better chance of finding the light show at night.

Where can I find the monument? The memorial can be found on one of the islands in the Burning Shores DLC. It is located on a large island, southeast of a volcano with lava pouring out of it. From the campfire on the beach, players can fly or swim directly to the island and from there head for the ridge above the beach.

Many players report that they haven’t found the monument on their first run. This could be because the memorial only came into play with patch 1.26, which was released on June 20, 2023. If you can’t find the monument, it could be because your version isn’t up to date.

It remains unclear how Reddick’s death will affect the character of Sylens. A replacement for Zavala must also be found in Destiny 2, where players have numerous ideas for a tribute to Lance Reddick.
