Honduras declared a “National Emergency” following heavy rains caused by Tropical Storm Sara. President Xiomara Castro announced that they have entered a 30-day emergency period due to the storm affecting 5 states.
DOZENS OF PEOPLE WERE EVACUATED
Officials reported that storm Sara affected more than 32 thousand people, 578 people were evacuated and 86 houses were damaged. It was also stated that while there were transportation disruptions due to floods and landslides on some highways, rescue efforts in the region continued rapidly. The storm is expected to cause great damage to the country’s infrastructure.
