Introduced in Japan, the Honda ZR-V is based on the design character used in America for the HR-V.
Honda, which came to the agenda by announcing the new generation CR-V this week, prefers to act quickly for its second trump card. The brand new model ZR-V, which the brand gave its first messages last May, is in an important position for us as it will be offered for sale in Europe and Turkey. The model, which will be positioned between the HR-V and CR-V and differs from other names with a relatively more sporty character, is before us with its first details today. Honda, which reflects the completely different design language of the HR-V used in the American market, to Europe via the ZR-V, does not surprise us at this point, like many others. The most important element that distinguishes the Honda ZR-V on the design side is the regional touches that reinforce the sportiness.

Gasoline and hybrid engine options expected for the Honda ZR-V
We see that basic parts of the ZR-V, which was introduced in Japan, were changed in the front section in order to create a more performance character than the American HR-V. Complementing the grille form of the vehicle with vertical chrome parts, Honda also includes a completely different structure in the bumper. At the rear, the fact that the exhaust outlets are more clearly integrated into the diffuser is also among the points that make a difference. The cockpit of the ZR-V is based on Civic dynamics, just like the new CR-V. In the hybrid version, we will not be strangers to this area, where the selector comes instead of the gear knob.

In the ZR-V, whose numerical data have not yet been shared, two different possibilities are at the forefront on the hybrid engine side. If the first possibility comes true, we will see the system used in the HR-V in the vehicle. In the new HR-V, two compact electric motors are positioned alongside the 1.5-liter gasoline engine as standard. Working on the basis of Atkinson, the 1.5-liter double overhead camshaft i-VTEC gasoline engine is combined with the e-CVT transmission. The combination of the system is optimized to produce 131PS of power and 253Nm of torque. If the hybrid unit in the Civic family is preferred, the 1.5-liter volume can be replaced by a 2.0-liter gasoline engine. In addition to this unit, two electric motors are positioned in the system, and a combined power of approximately 185 horsepower and torque of 315 Nm is offered. It will not be surprising that the ZR-V, which we expect to see its European version this year, will be put on sale with the 2023 model year. The first sales process of the vehicle starts in Japan this year.
