Home party in Malmö derailed – wanted thief shot

A party with a “high degree of intoxication” derailed in central Malmö and ended with a man in his 40s being shot in the leg by another party-goer.
A woman who was at the party has now been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the shooting.
The shot man is also in custody on suspicion of several thefts.

The party in central Malmö, with a “high degree of intoxication”, is said to have continued until the early hours of the morning on Tuesday.

After a long night, one of the party-goers pulled out a loaded gun – and shot a man in his 40s in the leg.

According to information to South Sweden the shot-wounded man said to another party-goer: “You don’t dare shoot me”. Something that ended with the 40-year-old actually being shot in the leg.

Woman detained for interference

The man with the gunshot wound called the police himself and stated that he had been shot.

On Tuesday morning, the police’s regional task force raided several addresses in Malmö, according to information given to TV4 Nyheterna, and arrested a woman who had been at the party. The woman was later arrested on suspicion of aggravated weapons offences.

According to Sydsvenskan, she is suspected of having handled the gun with which the 40-year-old was shot, but it is still unclear who actually fired the shots.

The woman denies the accusations and another man who was arrested earlier this week has been released.

Shot wounded man in custody

The shot-wounded 40-year-old, who was wanted the day before the shooting, is now in custody on suspicion of several thefts.

– He is suspected of entering a health center and a preschool during times when the businesses were open. A phone was stolen at the health center. Computers at the preschool, says prosecutor Ludvig Olsson to the newspaper.

It is also not the first time that the 40-year-old has been shot in the leg. On May 29, he entered the social services office in Rosengård and was shot by a police officer.

He has also abused drugs and been sentenced to prison on six previous occasions.
