You don’t always get what you want. The One Piece pirates also found out this in season 1 of the manga adaptation on Netflix. Now their fans will find out too. Because a big fan dream for the second season will never become reality: Jamie Lee Curtis does not appear as Dr. Kuleha.
Dr. Kuleha in One Piece Season 2: Horror icon Jamie Lee Curtis wanted to play the perfect role
One Piece producer Becky Clements told Deadline:
[Curtis] loves the series. But she is working on too many films and series that are currently being produced. Therefore we cannot arrange our appointments. She really wanted to play the role, but she has bigger priorities. It just got too complicated.
The actress, who has appeared in Halloween and True Lies in her long Hollywood career, was surprisingly enthusiastic about a One Piece role in early 2023.

Dr. Kuleha in the One Piece anime series
“She wears these deep flared trousers and looks pretty nasty“, she raved about her dream role, the 141-year-old doctor Dr. Kuleha. In the interview, which can be found on TikTok, among other places, she continues: “She has this straggly grey hair and [meine Tochter] thinks I could play that.”
In fact, quite a few fans thought Curtis was the perfect cast. Now they will have to accept that their dream has been shattered. It is not yet known who will play Dr. Kuleha instead of the Hollywood star.
When is One Piece Season 2 coming to Netflix?
Season 2 of the Netflix hit One Piece does not yet have a German release date. Since filming has only just begun, we are assuming not before 2025 from a publication.
