Well-known Hollywood actor Russell Crowe believes that actors who expect Marvel and DC to change their lives are wrong. He is responding to an interview with a colleague.
What kind of interview did he respond to? Madame Web, starring Dakota Johnson, was released in theaters in early 2024. The film was a complete flop and became one of the worst Marvel films:
In an interview with Bustle, Dakota Johnson complained about the film’s failure. She blames Sony’s creative management. For Johnson, it is the director and the actors who make up the creativity in the film, not a committee:
You can’t make art based on numbers and algorithms. I’ve felt for a long time that the audience is extremely smart, and executives have started to believe they aren’t. The audience will always be able to spot bullsh*t.
For her, it was definitely an experience to act in such a film. However, she already knows that she will never be in front of the camera for such films again. GQ magazine recently asked Hollywood legend Russell Crowe what he thought of his colleague’s opinion.

Russell Crowe does not consider comic book adaptations to be career-determining
What did he say in response to Johnson’s interview? Russell Crowe himself has a lot of experience in the comic book hero universe. He has already appeared in Man of Steel, Thor: Love and Thunder and Kraven the Hunter. But for him, these were all just jobs that didn’t have a major impact on his career:
These are jobs. You know, here’s your role, play the role. If you’re expecting this to be some kind of life-changing event, then you’re here for the wrong reasons.
For him, these are just “damned universes for cartoon characters.” They are gigantic films of considerable size, but as an actor you shouldn’t expect your big breakthrough with such films.
Russell Crowe can look back on an eventful Hollywood career. He has already acted in numerous films, including Cinderella Man from 2005. He injured himself so badly during filming that he still feels the pain 20 years later: Russell Crowe trained intensively for a role, even fought against real opponents – still in pain almost 20 years later
