The lottery, which features a minimum guaranteed $50,000 jackpot and $10,000 in early bird prizes, offers participants a chance to win big while supporting the local hospital, said the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Foundation in launching the fundraiser.

Funds raised will be used to purchase a new fluoroscopy machine for the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

“A fluoroscopy machine is a vital piece of imaging technology that enables real-time X-ray guidance, allowing our local hospital staff to perform accurate, minimally invasive procedures, reducing patient recovery times and improving outcomes,” the foundation said. “By participating in the Holiday 50/50, supporters are directly contributing to the health and well-being of families across Chatham-Kent.”

The lottery runs throughout the holiday season, with the grand prize draw on Thursday, Jan. 9.

In December, the foundation will offer 12 Days of Prizes, where an early bird prize will be given away every day from Dec. 2 to 5, Dec. 9 to 12, and Dec. 16 to 19. A $2,000 pre-draw early bird prize will also be given away on Wednesday, Jan. 8.

“This really is the most wonderful time of the year, and we encourage everyone to help make this an extra special holiday season by supporting our Igniting Healthcare Holiday 50/50,” said Christine Mitchell, foundation president and chief executive.

“These tickets make the perfect stocking stuffers, so be sure to buy some for yourselves and for your loved ones,” she said. “Every ticket purchased brings us closer to acquiring this crucial fluoroscopy machine and will have a profound impact for many local patients.”

The foundation’s first Holiday 50/50 in 2023 resulted in ticket sales of $119,090 with $59,545 jackpot being awarded to Carol Heuvelmans from Erieau.

Tickets are available at ignite5050.ca. Tickets are also available at the foundation office at 9 Ursuline Ave. in Chatham, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

Tickets will also be sold at pop-up locations throughout the community. Ticket options include five numbers for $10, 20 numbers for $20, 150 numbers for $50, or 500 numbers for $100.
