Hogwarts Legacy takes you into the world of wizards on different platforms. However, players have now compared the PS4 version with the PS5 and found that one location is unrecognizable. Why is there such a difference?
What is Hogwarts Legacy? Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world action role-playing game set in the Harry Potter universe. You create a magician, then you can explore the wondrous world, learn magic or experience adventures.
Now, out of curiosity, players have compared the PS4 version to the PS5 version and found that the developers have even completely changed parts of Hogwarts. We show you the comparison.

“It took me a minute to realize it’s the same location”
What have players found? Reddit user Euden compared the PS4 version to the PS5 version of Hogwarts Legacy. It struck him that an area with an arched gate in Hogwarts Castle has two versions. Here is the comparison with the pictures again:
You can see that the PS5 version has a more detailed gate with a steel mesh. In addition, the way to the outside is clearly recognizable, as an open suspension bridge without a roof was installed.
However, the PS4 version offers little detail on the arched gate. In addition, the steel grid was omitted. The apparently interesting thing here is the suspension bridge, because it was completely deleted. Instead, it was replaced by an enclosed corridor with a roof.
How do players react to the find? The fans on Reddit are surprised because they first had to compare the pictures for a few minutes to realize that these are the same locations. Onemortal therefore writes: “It took me a minute to realize because it’s the same location.”
Others wanted to admonish the post creator to please use the correct location for the comparison until they verified that this is actually the same location. As nolimits59 writes, “Seriously, I thought, “Dude, please at least take photos of the same place.” I thought the first two and the last two were a PS4/PS5 comparison.”
And while the different versions cause confusion, this design decision has a valid reason.
Why is there such a serious difference? Anyone who has played Hogwarts Legacy may know how performance-consuming the game can be. While powerful gaming PCs and the next-gens can take it well, the Xbox One and PS4 are different.
They have outdated hardware, making it slower and more difficult to process Hogwarts Legacy.
However, since the game is set in an open world and there are many things to be processed in the data, the developers most likely decided to connect certain areas in order to reduce the loading time as well as the processing load. The result is locations that look different but are at home in the same place.
