Hodgkinson wowed the home crowd with a British record

Keely Hodgkinson was chasing a new British record in the London Diamond League 800m, and with great encouragement from the home crowd, he succeeded. Hodgkinson improved his previous record by 0.58 seconds with a time of 1:54.61. It was the first time he broke 1:55 on the trip. Hodgkinson’s record is also a race record, the top result of the season and the sixth fastest time of all time.

Jemma Reekie and Georgia Bell completed the British day by taking second and third place behind Hodgkinson with new record times. Reekie’s time was 1:55.61 and Bell’s 1:56.28.
