In the first quarter of the game, Kampong handed out the first pinprick. Derck de Vilder brought the ball in front of the goal, Terrance Pieters placed it just wide. Then it was Rot-Weiss Köln who got most of the ball. A number of times that led to small chances, with Thies Prinz being the closest to a goal.
In the last minute of the first quarter, Mats Gruter had another great chance for Kampong. A flats from captain Lars Balk is sent to the goal by the youngster, keeper Vincent Vanasch prevented the Germans from falling behind with his chest.
