Hit over 100 targets in Lebanon in one hour

The Israeli military, the IDF, states that on Monday it struck over 120 Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon in less than an hour.
Now the IDF is also warning that they will strike from the sea against the Lebanese coast.
“For your safety, refrain from being by the sea or on the beach from now until further notice,” writes the IDF spokesperson
Avichay Adraee.

According to the IDF, the attacks are a series of attacks aimed at weakening Hezbollah’s capabilities and providing support to the ground forces currently operating in southern Lebanon. The attacks were said to have been carried out in less than an hour and carried out by the Israeli Air Force.

The airstrike is described as extensive and must, among other things, have been aimed at Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters, according to the IDF.

Three Israeli brigades in Lebanon

Israel also urged residents of 20 communities in Lebanon to evacuate their homes. During yesterday, Israel sent in a third brigade in southern Lebanon, reports Times of Israel. In total, around 10,000 Israeli soldiers are said to have entered Lebanon.

At the same time, Hezbollah states that it fired several rockets at areas north of the Israeli city of Haifa on Monday and at two villages on the border with Israel, reports AFP.

The IDF is now also warning people not to be on the coast, south of the Awali River which is about 60 kilometers from the border with Israel. IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee writes on X that an “urgent warning” is being issued to those on the beach or in a fishing boat.

“For your safety, refrain from being at the ocean or on the beach from now until further notice. Being on the beach or in a stretcher in the area south of the Awali River can pose a threat to your life,” writes Adraee on X.

Hundreds of thousands have fled to Syria

The Lebanese government says 400,000 people have fled Lebanon to Syria in the past two weeks. Around 300,000 of them are said to have been Syrians who previously fled their homeland, the remaining 100,000 come from Lebanon.

The Red Cross and several other organizations have already warned that the situation in the country is critical. The streets of Beirut have been filled with refugees from the southern parts of the country. At the same time, the Red Cross recently raised the alarm that there is a shortage of mattresses and that the airport in Beirut is full of people who want to leave the country.

– There are not enough mattresses in the country. The Red Cross is now working on procurement internationally, to have our international warehouses in Lebanon to help as many as we can, said Andreas Sandin, country manager for the Swedish Red Cross in Lebanon.
