It’s been almost exactly 10 years since Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn was released on PC and PlayStation 3. To this day, the game also celebrates its successes. Now Square Enix’s hit MMORPG is finally coming to the Xbox Series X/S.
What was announced? Yesterday, July 28th, 2023, was the FFXIV Fan Fest again. Alongside Dawntrail, the next Final Fantasy 14 add-on, a new console version of the MMORPG has also been announced. Even Head of Xbox Phil Spencer was on stage with Yoshi-P. The former announced an Xbox version in 2019.
When is the Xbox version coming? The Xbox Series S/X version is scheduled for release in Spring 2024. An open beta test is scheduled to take place with patch 6.5 in September of this year. The character and the progress made in the game should also be carried over to the full Xbox version in the spring.

What information is there about the Xbox version? Some information was also revealed about the technology of the new version. The Xbox version is said to offer 4K support and faster loading times. In addition, Xbox players will also be able to play the new add-on directly in the summer. As usual, crossplay should also be possible between all versions.
Here’s Phil Spencer’s tweet:
The announcement that Xbox and Square Enix want to work closely together on future games is also interesting here. Ironically, the latest installment in the JRPG series, Final Fantasy 16, came exclusively to PlayStation.
