The North Korea-Russia flirtation, which the Western world follows with suspicion, is becoming more intimate with each passing day. The rapprochement between the two countries has gained a historical dimension today. Russian President Vladimir Putin came to North Korea as part of an official visit after 24 years.
KIM JONG UN PERSONALLY WELCOME PUTIN
In the statement made by the Kremlin Press Service, “Russian President Vladimir Putin reached Pyongyang. The visit took place upon the invitation of Kim Jong Un, President of the People’s Republic of Korea. “North Korean President Kim Jong Un personally welcomed Vladimir Putin at Pyongyang Airport.”
THE AGREEMENT WILL BE SIGNED
It was reported that Putin and Kim will meet tomorrow, sign some agreements and then hold a joint press conference.
Before his official visit to North Korea, Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his views on bilateral relations by publishing an article in Rodong Sinmun Newspaper, the official publication of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK). Emphasizing that the friendship between Russia and North Korea has a long history, Putin said, “My visit to Pyongyang in 2000 and the visit of North Korean National Defense Commission Chairman Kim Jong Il to Russia the following year marked a new and important turning point in the relations between the two countries.” “The current leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-Un, confidently adheres to the line laid down by his predecessors, distinguished statesmen and friends of the Russian people, Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il,” Putin said. “I was once again convinced of this during our meeting at Russia’s Vostochny Cosmodrome in September last year,” he said.
PRAISE FOR PYONGYANG’S SUPPORT TO MOSCOW
Pointing out that Russia and North Korea are actively developing the multifaceted partnership now, as before, Putin said, “We expect North Korea to resolutely support Russia’s special military operations in Ukraine and express its solidarity with us on important international issues.” “We appreciate that he maintains the common line and stance at the UN,” he said. Stating that his supporters, Pyongyang, resolutely oppose the ambition of the “Western group” to prevent the establishment of a multipolar world order, Putin stated that the aim of the USA and its supporters is to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia.
“WE ARE READY FOR EQUAL DIALOGUE”
Underlining that Russia is ready to “establish equal dialogue” even on the most complex issues related to the past and the future, Putin said, “I recently expressed this again in my meeting with Russian diplomats in Moscow.” “Our enemies continue to provide money, weapons and intelligence to the neo-Nazi administration in Kiev. “It allows and encourages the use of modern weapons and technical equipment offered by the West to attack Russian territory,” said Putin, adding, “However, despite their desperate efforts, their attempts to pressure and isolate Russia were disappointed.”
PROMISE OF SUPPORT TO NORTH KOREA
Putin underlined that they are pleased that North Korea is effectively defending its interests despite decades of US economic pressure, provocation, blackmail and military threats. Putin said, “Russia will always support North Korea and its heroic people in their struggle for independence, freedom and development against the cunning, dangerous and aggressive enemy, as it did yesterday.” “We have full faith that this will contribute to the development of cooperation, strengthening our sovereignty, deepening economic and commercial relations, improving ties in the field of humanitarian aid and increasing the welfare of the citizens of the two countries,” he said.
Emphasizing that they are ready for close cooperation to make international relations more democratic and stable, Putin said: “We will develop alternative trade and mutual agreement mechanisms that are not controlled by the West. Together we will resist illegitimate unilateral restrictions. “At the same time, we will build an equal and indivisible security architecture in Eurasia,” he said.
