A 72-year-old East Zorra-Tavistock man has been charged following a historical sexual assault investigation, provincial police say.

A 72-year-old East Zorra-Tavistock man has been charged following a historical sexual assault investigation, provincial police say.

The charges – sexual interference and sexual assault on a person younger than 16 – arise from abuse that allegedly happened in 2001, Perth County OPP said Tuesday.

The accused was in a position of authority when the victim was a teenager, police said.

He is scheduled to appear in a Stratford court at a later date to answer the charges.
