The historic space walk planned during this week’s private space trip “Polaris Dawn” has been moved to this afternoon Swedish time.
The original plan was for two of the four astronauts to leave the capsule at 8:23 a.m., but the rocket company Space X now writes that the hatch will open at 11:58 a.m. instead.
The project is groundbreaking as the first completely civilian and private venture of its kind, with billionaire Jared Isaacman on board and Elon Musk’s Space X.
The trip has already set a new record when the Dragon capsule reached an altitude of 1,400 kilometers — the furthest any human has been from Earth since the lunar voyages more than 50 years ago, according to Space X.
