Historic agreement for nature – COP15 has agreed on a rescue plan

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The announcement came just after three in the morning local time. The agreement is seen as a “Paris agreement for nature”.

One of the most important points in the new agreement deals with protecting 30 percent of the Earth’s land and sea surface by 2030. This is more than the previous global goal of protecting 17 percent of all land areas and at least 10 percent of coastal and ocean areas .

Should support developing countries

A crucial issue during the negotiations has been that rich countries should support developing countries with resources to preserve biological diversity. According to the agreement, the rich countries must now increase their contribution to poorer countries to 20 billion dollars a year by 2025, and after that the amount will increase.
