Russia launched a missile attack on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Saturday, hitting an apartment building. In a statement after the attack, Oleksiy Arestovych, adviser to Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy, stated that the missile, related to the targeting of an apartment in the missile attack, may have fallen as a result of hitting the apartment building by the Ukrainian air defense system.
He apologized and resigned
After the statement, which was met with a great reaction in Ukraine, Arestovych admitted that he had made a “mistake” by stating that he had submitted his resignation to Zelenskiy. “I sincerely apologize to the victims and their relatives, the residents of Dnipro, and everyone who was deeply hurt by my erroneous early statement about the Russian missile falling on a residential building,” Arestovych said.
After the reactions, Arestovych first cited fatigue about his erroneous explanation, saying that he had made it clear that he was only stating the preliminary theory.
KREMLIN WAS DENIED
The Ukrainian side stated that the Kh-22 type missile that fell on the apartment was faulty and did not have the equipment to shoot it down.
Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, on the other hand, stated that “civilian settlements” were not targeted in the Russian attacks, and that the missile in question fell in a civilian settlement area as a result of the Ukrainian air defense, and that “some representatives of the Ukrainian side” came to this conclusion.
It was reported that 40 people lost their lives in the missile attack carried out by Russia on Dnipro, and 22 people were still not heard from. (UAV)
