Eight people were taken to hospital and three were seriously injured on Thursday evening when lightning struck a tree at a football pitch in Högsätra on Lidingö outside Stockholm.
The father says that his son is one of the injured who was taken to hospital where he was treated last night.
– He lost feeling in his legs, but it has started to come back now. This morning they did checks and he is doing better. Hopefully he will be discharged today.
“The whole family in shock”
The father, who has three more sons, says the whole family is in shock.
– Yesterday was a crazy day, today is better. We just need to get home and be together and feel good.
– The doctor says he was lucky, that it is one in a million.
The condition of the other injured is still unclear.
Rescue leader: Never experienced anything like this
All the injured should all be in their teens. The football club has previously stated to SVT that the accident happened in connection with football training.
– There were a number of young people under this tree, and several of them were struck by lightning, said rescue leader Barry Levis to SVT on Thursday evening.
– I have never been involved in a situation like this. I’ve been working for a long time, but I’ve never experienced this before.
