Somali ‘belly athlete’ Nasro Abukar Ali made history as the world’s slowest 100m runner.

A statement from the Somali Youth and Sports Ministry said, “The Ministry has conducted an investigation into the people who participated in the last games held in China. The results revealed that Nasro Abukar Ali was neither an athlete nor a runner. Khadijo Aden Dahir, President of the Somali Athletic Federation, has committed acts of abuse of power, nepotism and defamation of the nation’s name in the international arena.

Recently, the images of Somali runner Abukar Ali in the 100-meter women’s race at the 31st Summer World University Games held in China became the agenda on social media. In the shared images, it was noted that Abukar Ali did not look ‘fit’ and was ‘belly’.
In addition, while other runners finished the race in a short time, it was seen that Abukar Ali completed the race by running at a light pace. Somali users watching the image on social media said, “Why are we embarrassing the whole nation like this?” While using their expressions, some used the expressions “This must be a joke”. (DHA)
