Unless the prime minister visits Swedish journalist Joakim Medin in prison, he risks being imprisoned for a long time.
That’s what Swedish-Kurdish journalist Kurdo Baksi says to TV4 News.
– – Erdogan wants to tell his audience that foreign players are behind the mass demonstrations against him. Then a Swedish journalist fits like the hand in the glove, says Baksi.
On Sunday, a manifestation for democracy was organized in Stockholm. Parts of the manifestation were devoted to Swedish journalist Joakim Medin, who is imprisoned in Turkey.
According to the manifestation’s organizer, Swedish-Kurdish journalist Kurdo Baksi, the charges against Medin are fabricated.
– They claim that he is behind the doll action against Erdogan, but after this happened he was in Turkey for a month without anything happening. So these charges are fabricated.
“Then the game gets taller”
Turkey accuses Joakim Medin of terrorist offenses and claims he has been in contact with Kurdish PKK. According to Kurdo Baksi, the charges are serious.
– This crime gives between five and ten years in prison. It is actually the most serious accusation I have seen against a Swedish journalist ever.
The case differs from others in such a way that it Turkish presidential office Communicated the information on alleged crime and gripping on social media. According to Baksi, this is usually done by the courts.
– When the president’s office in Turkey expires, then the game will be higher. In order for it to be a change in the decision, Erdogan must lose his face, and I do not know if he does for Medin, says Kurdo Baksi.
Tray in domestic political play
It is not uncommon for journalist to be detained in Turkey, but according to Kurdo Baksi they are usually released after a while. In this case, there is a risk that Joakim Medin will be a tray in a domestic political game.
– Erdogan wants to tell his audience that foreign players are behind the mass demonstrations against him. Then a Swedish journalist fits the hand in the glove, says Baksi and continues:
– The worst thing is that his fate is related to Erdogan’s fate. It is not possible to guess when he is going home, it all depends on whether Erdogan should survive, and how many days he needs a Swedish journalist in prison.
Now Baksi wants the prime minister to act.
– I think that Sweden’s prime minister should visit Joakim Medin in Turkish prison as soon as possible, otherwise he will be in prison for a long time.
