Starting Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 9:10 p.m., M6 has decided to recycle its flagship program from the 2000s, riding the wave, as is often the case, of the success of an American program, “The Golden Bachelor”, which brought together more than 6 million viewers during its various broadcasts across the Atlantic. The principle of the Golden Bachelor remains unchanged: 20 “bachelorettes” try to seduce a man, a rather good catch by the way, who is himself looking for true love.
Except that this time the Golden Bachelor is a middle-aged man and his suitors are aged between 55 and 67. This season, it is Landry, a charming sixty-year-old, who dons the costume of “single gentleman”. And from the retired local government official to the artist, including the former flight attendant, the masseuse-reflexologist, the public speaking trainer or even the “mother, grandmother and sexy woman” (according to M6), he will be spoiled for choice.
An independent consultant in the city, this father of three children experienced a terrible tragedy nearly 20 years ago: the sudden death of his wife, taken by cardiac arrest at only 41 years old. It was in 2006, in the middle of the holidays. Landry discovered his wife on the ground, unconscious. “Her heart stopped and then I was panicked, the emergency services arrived quickly, she left at the level of her heart, but she went into a coma,” he explained in Télé Star. “I hoped she would wake up, but she passed away in December, shortly before Christmas.”

Landry, our Golden Bachelor, then found himself alone at 42 years old with two sons, aged 13 and 7, a little girl aged 2 and the company he had founded with his wife to run. “I found myself alone to manage the family business and my three children. It took a lot of energy. I struggled a lot,” he confided with emotion during the presentation of the show by M6, adding that he could have been “unfair” with his children, because a mother “is irreplaceable”, or that he had “prayed to give [sa] place.”
Landry will decide to devote all his energy to raising his children and carrying out his projects at the same time, putting his love life on hold. In 2020, the Golden Bachelor finally chose to slow down professionally and sell his company. and to work part-time.
Nearly twenty years after the death of his wife, it is time for him to move on “to a new chapter”, according to the beautiful story written by M6. Now 60, he finally feels ready to find his soulmate.
