Throne and Liberty is for many the most promising MMORPG that will be released in 2023. As part of the Korean gaming fair G-Star, new details have now been revealed. It’s about PvE, PvP, server structures and the worldwide release.
What was revealed? Probably the biggest piece of information revolves around the topic of the game version. Because while Lost Ark and Blade & Soul with their updates between Korea and Europe are sometimes months to years apart, Throne and Liberty should be kept on the same level worldwide.
While there will be specific servers and different language options for each region, the game version with all content and balance will be the same.
There is also new information about the server structure. Each server should be able to accommodate around 3,000 to 5,000 players. This makes them slightly larger than New World, but significantly smaller than Lost Ark. There about 20,000 players fit on one server.
However, no new gameplay was shown at the show. We have therefore included the old trailer for you:
The game world is divided into challenges (PvE) and competitions (PvP)
What was revealed about the game world? Throne and Liberty is based on an open game world, but in which you can find PvE instances that you enter together with your group. The transition should run smoothly and without a loading screen.
The open world, on the other hand, will feature both PvE and PvP:
In the open world, there should also be random events that affect the area. These are displayed on the map and there is also an outlook on the events of the coming hours.
A “Wolf Hunt Tournament” was shown in the presentation. The number of wolf tails they have collected is displayed above the players’ heads. However, PvP is active and if you are defeated, you lose those very wolf tails and someone else can pick them up.
However, you don’t otherwise lose any items if you are killed in PvP.
We’ve included four images from the presentation of Throne and Liberty at G-Star for you:
Time of day and the weather have influences
What was revealed about the weather system? In the game world it’s 4 hours a day and 1 hour night. So after five real hours, this cycle repeats itself. All players on the server always have the same time of day and the same weather.
But there is a special bonus for the best PvP player on the respective server. He should have the power to change the time of day twice a day by 10 minutes forward or backward.
In turn, he cannot influence the weather, but it has a direct effect on your abilities:
The ratio of the weather is said to be around 8:2 in favor of the sun. However, there can be wind in both rain and sunshine. Weather should also influence the strength of boss monsters in PvE.
What else was revealed? The presentation featured the Grappling Hook skill, which allows players to jump larger chasms or climb a ledge faster.
There was also talk about the animal forms you can use to move faster instead of mounts or flying mounts. Because the weather should also affect the animals. Good weather can, for example, increase life point regeneration in animal form.
Where does the information come from? There was a presentation by NCSoft at G-Star 2022. However, it was only in Korean. We followed the summary from Ruliweb, a Korean site. There was also a live stream on YouTube, in which a Korean streamer translated the information live into English.
Throne and Liberty is scheduled for release in 2023 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
What is this game anyway? Throne and Liberty is the biggest MMORPG due out in 2023. It is developed by NCSoft, who have already produced Aion, Blade & Soul and Lineage. The game relies on action-packed battles and does without fixed classes. Instead, you equip two weapons that determine your playstyle.
The release was supposed to take place in 2022, but there were problems with a western partner for the game. That’s why it was postponed to 2023. The release is planned for PC and the most common consoles. As of now, there shouldn’t be a mobile version.
