The situation was resolved following a meeting last weekend of the higher education teachers’ union. It was noted that all teachers in a regular situation – i.e. those recognized by the State – received payment of the third tranche of the research bonus.
The Minister of Higher Education also contacted Synes by correspondence on Friday, October 20, to discuss possible solutions. Elements which probably favored suspension of the strike five days later.
For Dr Moutil Firmin, Synes National Communications Secretary, this is just a suspension, because several demands remain current:
“ Among the two points which were the subject of the strike slogan, the question of academic debt remains pending, he explained. And it is for this reason that we said that this strike remains suspended and that the strike call is not lifted. »
Nevertheless, a new suspension still looms over state universities, because at the moment the issue of academic debt has not been resolved. Trade unionists hope to obtain concrete information on this subject by Friday October 27. Without this, the strike could resume the next day, on October 28.
